For generations my mom's side of the family have been sewing. My mom has a degree in Textile and Clothing and made about everything we wore. I started sewing pieces of fabric together at age 4. In elementary school I was sewing simple patterns for myself and my dolls. By middle school I was making clothes I’d wear to school. Once I was in High School I was making dresses for prom and other events for my friends. I also loved the Theater and costumed many of our productions. Through the theater I met a friend who worked at an alteration shop in the mall who got me my first alterations job. As great and thorough of a foundational education I got from my mom, the art of alterations just took my skills to a whole new level- it was natural for me.
I’ve worked on and off throughout the years. Working in the menswear alterations dept at Dillards. And here and there privately. I’ve had the amazing opportunity to raise 4 beautiful children. When my oldest was in High School, I volunteered with her show choir. The amazing costume designer there gave my name to a local shop in Columbia to pass out for general alterations. A few years later the bridal shops were also referring to me. Now have a handful of talented ladies who work with me in the busy season. They fill in the holes of my expertise. I love the challenge of creating a perfectly fitted gown and adding some new elements.I gather the creative artists around me to help with the atheistic design elements. It’s so fun to work with them. We all learn and challenge each other.
